About me:

I was born in India and raised in Saudi Arabia where I completed my schooling. I hold an undergraduate degree in English Literature, Journalism and Communication from Mahatma Gandhi University in Kerala. I relocated to Exeter in 2017 to pursue my MA in Modern and Contemporary Literary Studies. My MA dissertation was titled, Representation of Trauma in Children's Holocaust Literature. In 2018, I joined Exeter for my PhD and are supervised by Dr Wendy O'Shea-Meddour and Dr Florian Stadtler. My thesis titled, Trauma Narratives: The Afghan Child in Contemporary Literature focuses on the representation of trauma in children born and raised in pre and post-war Afghanistan. I also focus on child migration and refugee crisis and how effectively they are represented in fiction. I expect to complete my PhD by January 2022.

Needless to say, I am fascinated by the complex and far-reaching psychological and sociological impact of trauma, mainly in reseraching the huge influence this has on the cross-cultural human imagination and it's powerful expression in literature. My area of research interests apart from my PhD are literature post-WWII (particularly Holocaust literature), children's literature, comparative literature, postcolonial literature, feminism, literary criticism and theory, film studies and modern and postmodern poetry (W.H Auden in particular).
