Dr Georgia Poplett (She/her)
Lecturer
English and Creative Writing
Dr Georgia Poplett is a writer, editor, and researcher. Her debut novel, She Herself is a Haunted House, was longlisted for the 2025 Deborah Rogers Award. She has taught at Durham, UCL, and currently lectures in Creative Writing at Exeter University. She is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA, 2025). Her PhD on postpartum psychosis and Gothic literature from the University of Durham was awarded an AHRC Northern Bridge Consortium Doctoral Award in 2021. She also holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Birkbeck. Her words and fiction have appeared in The Mechanics' Institute Review, Lucy Writers, The Polyphony, and elsewhere. She has been invited to present her work and writing at conferences around the world.
Previously, she was an editor for Profile Books. She has also worked as a literary researcher for New Writing North and as a research assistant for the Northern Network for Medical Humanities Research (NNMHR). She has advised on her research for podcasts, Netflix series, and more. She is represented by Imogen Morrell at Greene & Heaton.
